Create a menu item in your Cookbook
- Click the plus button in the top right area.
- Fill in the top section of your meal form with your basic meal information. This section has the required fields and can be the least amount of information needed to create a meal item.
- The restaurant chosen will become the "default" for this meal. This does not mean that the meal cannot be added to any restaurant. The default is intended to provide a way to sort or filter meals more easily when building your menu.

- Upload your photo and/or documents. This photo will be visible on Alexa and any app that is displaying the meal. Further, choose your notification choices.
- Waiting list uses the dining capacity to only allow for that number of residents to attend. Any residents who sign up for that meal will be put on a waiting list.
- Display in Signage will show this meal on Alexa and TV screens automatically.
- Auto Notification and Auto Announcement will send a reminder about this meal to all residents, or only residents signed up for this meal, at a time of your choosing.
- Manage your sides by adding them in the Sides section and clicking the plus. Add a cost to any side (E.g., premium sides). Or make a side "required" with a meal. This means the side will automatically be chosen at the time of the order.
- Track more details:
- Track costs and price to residents.
- Assign points to meals, you can track how many points a resident attains.
- Premium Category can be used to filter meals based on a residents "plan". E.g., if a resident is on a Gold plan, they will see Gold meals, while the silver resident will not see that meal.
- The Dietary tab is used to identify the food group details associated with this meal item, if appropriate. This is valuable to monitor if a resident has issues with certain types of foods or to recommend certain meals.
- The Meal Restrictions tab captures important cautions that can be flagged for residents who require dietary attention or goals. These are matched in the resident record.
- Details, Tax and Docs allow for specific integrations such as external systems, POS or billing systems, and various interfaces that may be helpful.
